Today, the CBS International Business School is one of the top addresses among the private business schools in Germany. We laid the foundation for the success of our practical and international management studies in 1993 with the founding of the “International Campus” in Cologne. At that time, we were one of the first universities in Germany to offer the six-semester bachelor’s model based on the American model.
When our German higher education system was finally internationalised, in 1998 we were the first institution to receive accreditation from the renowned Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) for our German- and English-language bachelor’s programmes. And in 2018, we continued to lead the field in university accreditations as the first university in Germany to receive accreditation from the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE).
With the merger of our campuses under the common brand umbrella of the CBS International Business School in 2020, we have initiated another exciting stage in which we will continue and expand our role as a pioneer and market leader in the area of adult further education.

At the centre of their efforts is the strengthening of education – as an essential prerequisite for the successful life of every individual and a future worth living in a liberal, open society.
We are proud to be part of this mission and do our best to use our knowledge, our skills and our passion to take on the responsibility that comes with it.
The topic of Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of research and teaching at CBS. Thus, the Dr. Juergen Meyer Foundation Chair plays an important and pioneering position in all areas of the university. Social, ecological and economic responsibility is the basis of CBS’s holistic approach to establish excellence in the three areas of education, innovation and research.
On technical, social and intercultural levels, the university strives to enable students to develop and apply practical strategies to the constantly changing challenges of modern day society.
In 2016 an article about CBS was published in the ÖKOPROFIT (Ecoprofit) Journal of the city of Cologne which emphasized the effort of the university towards the establishment of sustainable management education.
