About CASM

The Center for Advanced Sustainable Management (CASM) was founded in 2016 at Cologne Business School (CBS). It integrates and promotes research and education on relevant sustainability and CSR topics within the university. CASM aims to generate active knowledge transfer between academia and business practice trough business co-operations. The center established strong relationships with key companies in the field of sustainable management as well as with chambers of commerce, ministries of economics, NGOs, think tanks and thought-leaders locally and internationally. Together, they are working towards making sustainability the new norm in business practice and sustainable management education.

CASM aims to drive change towards systemic sustainable management by educating young professionals, creating knowledge and bringing together people who believe in the same mind-set. Finding new strategies, processes and instruments for this paradigm shift lies at the core of CASM’s work. The team believes that business and academia have to rethink how business works. Only through this will it be possible to adequately educate and prepare our leaders of the future. CASM advocates for a new world of management which sees no contradiction in being profitable and having a positive impact on society. Only when we are able to overcome this trade-off thinking, it will be possible to tackle our global challenges successfully.
